This was my very first night in Indonesia, and I couldn’t have felt more comfortable and welcome. The staff are incredibly friendly and speak very good English. I especially want to mention Alina, one of the receptionists, she is truly an angel. At first, I was alone in the hostel and a bit nervous since it was the start of my first solo trip. But Alina immediately offered to show me the night market after her shift and walk with me along Malioboro Street. She was so kind, caring, and made me feel completely at ease. I had one of the most beautiful evenings of my time in Indonesia thanks to her. The staff really do everything they can to make you feel at home. I think I might have even gained a new friend. I can absolutely recommend this hostel from the bottom of my heart, and I wish Alina and everyone there all the best for the future. I’ll definitely come back on my next visit! ❤️
Such a comfortable stay at ViaVia guesthouse. The staff were really friendly and it was in a really good area, lots of cafes, restaurants, shops etc. The breakfast at ViaVia guesthouse was also delicious and the coffee was amazing! Also would recommend ViaVia tour agency, really liked their bakery as well but didn’t make it to their café this time!
I have to say, it was really nice. The staff, in particular, were very welcoming; every question I asked was answered immediately. After I told them where I was going next, I immediately received tips on where to stay. I had the Kalimantan room, and it didn’t get cold in this room. It only has a fan and not the air conditioning like in the other rooms. Nevertheless, I have to say, the location is perfect. You’re right on the street, where the action is, with bars, restaurants, and everything else. The guesthouse also offers various activities, so you can’t really do nothing. Very nice. Would you recommend it? Definitely.

So far this is the go to bakery store recommendation from local located in Prawirotaman (foreigner place). Overall this is the best artisan bakery in town, IMO. I don’t know about artisan bakery, but I think this type of bakery included the pastry and others.
I came here in the morning with my friend and you gotta believe that the aroma when you entered the store is soo appetizing 🤤 that you really wanna grab all of them. When we got there, so many foreigner grab a slice of bakery from here and thought that this bakery is famous around foreigner in Jogja.
My order:
– Chocolate cookie 🍪, def 10/10 I love the cookie because it gives sweets and the after taste of premium chocolate ingridient and a lil bit (maybe) walnut (I’m not sure). Definitely will be back for cookie
– Oat Banana Cake 🥧, for me I don’t like this one cause it gives no taste (no sweet) and the texture is soggy. I wish they give original sweet taste from banana, in other hand there’s still a taste of choco chip.
I think this bakery is special vor vegan. It’s just not made for me, sorry ☺ Overall I love this boulangerie shop, so many type of bakeries and the price also affordable in Jogja and for foreigner. Definetely will come back, cheers 😁
It’s my wife’s favou place in Jogja and it is always easy to see why. Great food, service and atmosphere as well as coffee. We have been coming here for years and it has never disappointed. I recommend just about everything to be fair. You should work through the menu and try for yourself
Cookies nya murah abiss, cuma 11k udah dapet cookies lohh. Enak juga gak terlalu manis, tapi emang cookies kering bukan tipe soft cookies yg lembut. Tapi tempatnya emang kecil, cuma disediain 2 meja outdoor, gak diperuntukkan buat makan nongki cantik alias harus take away. Mereka jual rempah-rempah juga, menarik banget
We had a very nice day with Clare. We went to the local market to buy the ingredients for the dishes. During that we decided to change the plan for the dish and it was no problem to change it spontaneously! Clare guided us through the whole process of traditional Indonesian cooking so we learned different techniques. She always explained the ingredients and the process. I liked the course and would definitely recommend doing it in the morning 🙂
Beautiful little place, very quiet, amazing staff who are always there if you need anything, good price and good location. Can walk to the street over with lots of cheap restaurants and options, even some bars. We got lucky it was only us here at the time of the stay, it was like a VIP service. Recommended.
I did cooking class, heritage bike tour, Bahasa lesson, and the village bike tour. In each case I happened to be the only one that signed up for tour. Each of my guides was excellent (Angela, Nara, and Sefia) and the experiences were all very fun. I’ve also eaten at their restaurant several times and generally love everything about ViaVia – highly recommend them!
Excellent tutor and spoke different languages. Agus was very friendly and helpful showing us how to use the tools to create amazing silver jewellery. He also could switch through various languages which amazed me.
Great little hotel. Everything is pleasant: from the cleanliness of the rooms to the services provided and offered: laundry, scooter rental, etc.
In a city that is quite sparse for good, affordable places to eat, Via Via is a jewel. Great atmosphere, excellent, friendly service and a vast and tasty menu.
Live music is not intrusive and adds to the atmosphere. My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in Jogja, discovered Via on the first night and ate there every one of our 4 nights. Lovely upstairs section where you can smoke if u wish. Great local (Bali) wine at very reasreasonable prices. Firmly recommend!
We loved our room with the mango tree in the bathroom. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was good. The pool was clean and the rooms very comfortable. Good value…quiet and sweet. A short trip by Grab to Prambanan was worth it too.
